Paving Grants
$2 million The Huntington County Highway Department received nearly $2 million in INDOT Community Crossings grants in 2022 and 2023, with a 25 percent local match.
Major Projects
1. CR-100 N from SR-9 to SR-105
2. Rangeline Road from US-24 to CR-500 N
3. CR-300N from Meridian Road to CR-600 E
Chip & Seal Roads
70 miles The Huntington County Highway Department has put $1,504,021.22 this year toward maintaining and reconstructing nearly 70 miles of frequently traveled roadways in Huntington County.
Major Projects
1. Reconstructed CR-800 N from Roanoke Road to Meridian Road
2. Converted 3.5 miles of gravel roads to chip and seal roads
3. Maintained an additional 60+ miles of chip and seal county roads
Bridge Projects
$1.38 million The Highway Department has put $1.38 million toward Huntington County bridge projects in 2023. A portion of this amount has been for locally funded projects, while another portion was for the county’s 20 percent match on federally funded projects.
Local Projects
1. Reconstructed large culvert on CR-1000 N
2. Reconstructed bridge at CR-300 W and CR-400 S
3. Reconstructed bridge at CR-700 S
4. Rehabilitated Taylor Street bridge
Federal Projects
1. CR-900 S bridge at Belleville Road
2. Lafontaine Street bridge
Other Projects
1. The Highway Department received a nearly $3 million Highway Safety Improvement grant to reconstruct the intersection at CR-300 W and Division Street, with a 10 percent local match.
2. The Highway Department is widening Tipton Street to more adequately accommodate school buses.
