City crews continue to engage in hydrant flushing throughout the city. Residents may observe some discoloration in the water for a few additional days as a result of this process.

The City of Huntington's water system encountered mechanical issues during the treatment process, leading to temporary discoloration of the water. We are pleased to inform you that the mechanical issue has been resolved. The discoloration is linked to elevated iron levels within the system. The City is proactively flushing the system to mitigate this discoloration, and residents may experience these issues for a few additional days. Please note routine testing confirms that the water remains safe for consumption and there is no need to boil water.

The city has encountered a mechanical issue with the water treatment process, leading to discoloration of the water in several areas of the system. The city is actively working to resolve this matter. We believe we have identified and addressed the cause of the discoloration, and we are currently flushing the system to enhance water clarity. Routine testing confirms that the water remains safe for consumption and there is no need to boil water prior to consumption.
