The Huntington Police Department is excited to announce that Officer Dustin Offenberger has been selected as the department’s new canine handler.

Offenberger joined HPD on December 12, 2021. Prior to that, Offenberger served in the United States Marine Corps from 2017 to 2021, during which he was stationed at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina.

Offenberger has excelled with the Police Department, receiving multiple letters of appreciation for his on-duty performance. He is a certified field training officer, as well.

As we continue to raise funds to bring back HPD's K9 program, Offenberger will work with the department administration to lead the charge during the onboarding process.

Anyone wishing to support the K9 program can donate at the Police Department or join us for our Dan’s Fish and Chicken Fry on February 26 from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Huntington North High School Cafeteria. Tickets cost $12 and can be pre-purchased from any Huntington City Police Officer, the Police Department Office or at the door the night of the event.
