The City of Huntington and its project partners were presented a 2024 Indiana Historic Preservation Award on Thursday for work restoring Memorial Park’s historic stone race. Engineering Resources designed the restoration project, which was completed last year by FCI Construction and stone masonry lead Pieter Heinzerling.

Thank you again to the Indiana Department of Natural Resource's Division of Historic Preservation and Archaelology for backing the project.

The stone race channels water from Memorial Park’s two retention ponds to the Little River. It was originally a Works Progress Administration project in 1937, and it remains an important piece of Huntington’s stormwater management today.
