Contractors working for the City will close the intersection at Lafontaine Street and West Park Drive one more time to wrap up construction in the immediate area. The closure is expected to begin this Monday, October 21, and last about 10 days.
Crews will remove the temporary stone ramps and prep and final grade the intersection for asphalt. At the same time, they’ll finish up concrete curbs, driveway approaches and sidewalks south to State Street. The last step is laying new asphalt and installing pavement markings, after which Lafontaine and State streets will be ready to reopen.
In addition, access to the Lafontaine Street bridge may be impacted at times. Every effort will be made to minimize bridge closures while the intersection remains closed.
As a quick reminder, this ongoing construction is part of Huntington’s sewer line installation project to keep our local rivers cleaner and meet our state and federal obligations. Thanks for everyone’s patience and understanding, and please remember to use extra caution in all work zones.
