Every Second Counts!
- Every home should have working smoke detectors/alarms on all levels. The Red Cross recommends installing more than one type of smoke detector/alarm in your home for added safety.
- Check the batteries in your smoke detectors monthly.
- Change the batteries in your smoke detectors yearly, unless they have long-life batteries.
- Replace smoke alarms every 10 years.
- Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.
- Appliances should be plugged directly into wall outlets.
- Never smoke in bed.
- Curtains, dish towels, or anything that could catch fire should be kept at least three feet from heat source.
