HUNTINGTON – The Huntington Police Department announced two internal promotions and welcomed its newest patrol officer to the team during a Tuesday afternoon ceremony at the Huntington City Building.

Reece Lefever has been promoted to the rank of Captain. He has been with the department for six years, serving for the past two years as a third-shift sergeant.

HPD’s newest captain has also served as a second-shift Officer-in-Charge and Field Training Officer. As an instructor to other officers, he has taught defensive tactics and Taser deployment protocol. He is a Carrol High School graduate and holds a bachelor’s degree from Wabash College and master’s degree from Concordia University.

Lefever was joined at Tuesday’s ceremony by his wife, Mariah Lefever, and their two children.

Jordan Corral has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He has also been with the department for six years, originally having been sworn into duty on the same day as Lefever, Police Chief Cory Boxell noted.

Corral specialized in traffic enforcement and drug interdiction before serving for two years as a third-shift Office-in-Charge. Most recently, he had been appointed as a detective about nine months ago.

Corral was joined Tuesday by his wife, Sara, and their son. Among other family members in attendance, Corral’s father and grandfather are both retired former Police Chiefs for the City of Decatur.

Finally, Abigail Fullerton was sworn into duty on Tuesday as HPD’s newest patrol officer. She is a graduate of Chelsea High School near Ann Arbor, Mich. She also holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, where she graduated at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA.

During her undergraduate studies, Fullerton completed internships with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department and the security team at United Wholesale Mortgage in Michigan.

Highlighting her leadership capabilities, Fullerton was named team captain of the Michigan-Dearborn women’s basketball team in her senior year. She has continued as an assistant varsity girls' basketball coach at her high school.

On Tuesday, Fullerton was joined by her fiancé, Trenton, and her sister, Jillian, who held the Bible as Abigail was sworn in.
